An Interactive Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up!

Holiday InteractiveStampin’ Up! brings their products in the 2013 Holiday Catalog to life with a FREE fun interactive app — Layar!

To get started:

  1. Go to the App Store or Google Play and download and install the FREE Layar app to your smartphone or tablet.
  3. Scan images that are tagged with the Stampin’ Up! Interactive icon to unlock the videos.

Supported devices: The Layar app will work on:

  • iPhone 3GS and higher and iPad 2 and higher (requires iOS 5.1 or higher)
  • Android devices running v2.2 or later

Things to know:

  • Different mobile devices will work differently with the Layar app.  Some are faster than others, some will take more steps to load the videos, etc.
  • You need to hold your mobile device far enough from the page that the image is completely in the device’s screen before the video will load.
  • Hold your device over the page until the video loads.  Be patient – the video might take a while to load, depending on your device.
  • Most devices will start playing a video automatically, but some will have a play icon that you need to tap to start the video.  And some won’t show a play icon but will still require you to tap the screen on your device to start the video.  So if a video doesn’t start playing automatically, tap the play icon or screen of your device.  (If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy phone, you’ll need to tap the box that appears on the screen to start the video.)
  • If you don’t want to hold your device over the page for the duration of the video, just tap the video and then pull it away from the page – the video will keep playing.
  • From the video, you can go directly to the online store to buy a product immediately, and you can share your favorite products on social media.

It’s Time to Get Festive!

Can you believe there are only 124 days ’til Christmas!  Okay, stop booing me — I realize that for most of us it’s still in the high 90’s or close to 100 degrees outside and the last thing you want to think about is Christmas, but you know it will be here before you know it!

Christmas Cards on Display – #Convention2013

As I’ve said before, one of my favorite things to do while at Stampin’ Up! Convention is to walk through the Demonstrator Resource Center to view and photograph the display boards.

Stampin’ Up! collects cards during the year from various events (i.e. Regionals and prior Conventions) and puts them on display — organized sometimes by stamp set, sometimes by color and sometimes by seasons.

I’m always pleasantly surprised to find cards I have created on these display boards.  This year I spotted many of my cards in addition to those I designed for the Artisan Design Team application.  Here is one of my holiday cards that I swapped at Convention 2012:

This card was very quick and easy to make and is a good use of those scraps of designer series paper you have laying around your craft room.

Christmas will be here before you know it.  It’s time to get creative — I send out about 60 or more hand-made Christmas cards each year to my family and friends.  How many do you make and send each year?

My Triple Time Stamping Convention Swap

I had planned on spending time being crafty today but a migraine that has been dogging me all week had other plans for me.  Not wanting to break my posting streak for the week I realized that I had not shared one of the cards I designed as a Convention swap card with you.

The technique used in this card is called “triple time stamping”.  I was inspired by a card I once saw designed by Dawn Olchefske.  This technique is not new but this is the first time I tried it.  I like how it turned out.  How about you?

Here are the products I used in the design of my card:

Card stock:  Very Vanilla, Strawberry Slush, Sahara Sand, Basic Black
Classic Stampin’ Pads/Inks:  Strawberry Slush; Jet Black StazOn
Stamp Sets:  Everything Eleanor, Morning Meadow
Other Supplies:  Stampin’ Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Mini Glue Dots, Basic Black 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon
Tools:  Stampin’ Trimmer, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch
