A Cozy Home for Christmas

Wow, I’m tired.  After not having worked a day job for nearly a month I was called in this morning for a temporary legal secretary assignment.  It was only a half-day today, and is expected to only be a two-week assignment, but I was up past 2:00 AM processing eBay transactions and have had only about five hours of sleep.

But even though I have to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow so I can catch two trains to be there at 8:15 AM, I wanted to share a Christmas card with you that was partially made in July while in Salt Lake City at Inspire.Create.Share. 2015 (what used to be known as Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Convention) in the Product Showcase for the Holiday Catalog.

We were able to play with some of the new products.  Can you spot them?  We cut out one of the Santa’s from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (I promise no Santa’s were harmed in the design of this card), stamped a verse from the Cozy Christmas stamp set and added some embellishments.  I added the Old Olive card stock mat and the Very Vanilla card stock base to finish out the card.

Below are all of the Stampin’ Up! products I used in the design of this card:

And don’t forget your envelope — it needs a little something to make it feel pretty too! (Just make sure you use the correct color to match your card case, unlike I did in this sample).

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.   I hope you leave here inspired to put stamps to ink to paper.

Until next time, stamp on my friends,

Cottage Greetings Card Kit

I took a short break from listing stuff on eBay and finally played with one of the new card kits from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.

The Cottage Greetings Card Kit has a coordinating stamp set, but I opted to not purchase the set and instead used some sets I had on hand, but I did stick to the instructions as far as the proposed design layouts go.

The Best Love Story

My husband’s niece got married last weekend.  We were not able to make the trip to Wisconsin to share their joy so I designed a card for them today which will carry our wedding gift to them very soon.  I even made a coordinating envelope.

Ok, first I have to confess I have used all kinds of retired products in the design of this card, but let’s just pretend they are current and just admire the beauty of this card … hahaha.

And here are the CURRENT products that I used in the design of this beautiful 6×6 card.  (I used the envelope size of 6×6-1/2 on the envelope punch board when creating the envelope.)

And to give the retired products a nod, they are One in A Million Stamp Set (126382), Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (138635) and Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper (137785).

A Butterfly Just Because

I have been occupying my time these past two weeks listing retired Stampin’ Up! products for sale on eBay.  I listed approximately 64 items and sold 57 of them, which admittedly is a pretty good average, but man is it an exhausting process!

After I dropped six more packages off at the post office this afternoon I decided to set aside some time to actually create something with some of the CURRENT Stampin’ Up! products I have on hand.

You may recall from an earlier post of my Convention swaps (Six-Sided Butterflies) I used the Butterflies Thinlit dies to cut out some very delicate butterflies for the front of the cards.  I cannot make myself throw away the negatives from thinlits, etc. and try to find ways to use them in other projects.  I used one of those negatives as the focal point of the card I designed today.

Six-Sided Butterflies for Swapping

I have been busy in my craft room throughout the last week creating more cards for swapping at Convention.  This particular card that I am sharing with you today was inspired by one of the projects in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog (p. 105).

I wanted to use the new 2015-2017 In-Colors but only had the assorted pack of card stock so I picked two different colors and created 24 cards in each.

Here are the Stampin’ Up! products that I used in the design and creation of these cards:

I have a tip to share with you when using the thinlits, i.e. the Butterflies Thinlits, that have a lot of design detail.  To make it easier to remove the cut image from the thinlits, put a piece of shrink wrap between the thinlit and the card stock or paper (a great use for the packaging that you would normally just toss in the trash).  The cut image pops out quick and easy with absolutely no tearing of the card stock!  I just wish I had thought of this tip BEFORE I had nearly cut out 24 of these butterflies!

Happy Birthday, Everyone – You Got This on Doilies

Have you ever had one of those nights when you just lay there in bed wide awake for nearly two hours when just earlier you were so dead tired that you didn’t think you could keep your eyes open through dinner?

Well I had one of those nights Wednesday night.  I finally decided to get up and spend some time in my craft room until the need to sleep came over me again.  I used that time to design another card to swap for Convention.  Here is what I came up with:

Swap Birthday You Got This

I am entertaining the idea of adding a butterfly, but that can be easily done with one of my punches or framelits that Stampin’ Up! offers … so many excellent products to choose from.

For now, these are the products that I used in the design of my card, all of which can be purchased in a snap on my online demonstrator website — just click on a thumbnail and add it to your shopping bag! (NOTE:  I used the Wild Wasabi and So Saffron Stampin’ Write markers from the Subtles collection, which are now sold in a set of 10 and includes all colors in this collection.)

Thank you again for dropping by my blog.  I hope I will sleep better this evening, but if not I know I will find something to do in my slightly disorganized craft room.  (Okay Gary Yarbrough, keep your snarky comments to yourself!)  Come back again soon to see what else I have to share with you.

Until next time, stamp on my friends,
Linda
