Hearth & Home with Happy Scenes

Happy Monday!  Ok, so some of you are not Monday people, I completely understand.  Maybe today’s post and project from  our September 12 Stamped with Joy group meeting will help make your Monday just a wee bit more happy.

Did you know that Stampin’ Up! has 17 product bundles in this year’s Holiday Catalog?  What’s a product bundle?  Well, that’s when a stamp set and a coordinating punch or framelits/thinlits die set are offered together at a 15% discount off the amount you would pay if the two products were purchased separately.  How cool is that!?!  I mean, who likes to fussy cut out tiny little objects when a punch or a die will take care of it for you in a snap – not me!

We used one of my favorite bundles offered in this year’s Holiday Catalog in the project I am sharing with you today (Facebook kind of gave you all a sneak peek when it posted a link to Saturday’s Owl card post so act surprised).

Trick or Treat in a Candy Corn Bag

Are you ready to have your socks knocked off?  This project that I am about to share with you was also demonstrated on stage at Convention in July and I was so excited to see that Amy included it as one of the make & take projects for our meeting this month.

DSC08343

OMG!  RIGHT!  I mean, whoever looked at that little bag and thought “Candy Corn” is a freaking’ genius!  How’d she do that?  Well, it is really pretty simple.

  1. Cut a piece of card stock to use as a mask and cover approximately the top 1/3 of the cellophane bag.
  2. Using the mask to protect the white top part of the bag, open the Crushed Curry ink pad and drag it across the bag until it is covered in ink, then take a paper towel and wipe off the excess ink.  (Don’t worry about going too far down with the Crushed Curry ink since the next color to be used is darker.)
  3. Move the mask down to cover the Crushed Curry portion of the bag and repeat step 2 with the Tangerine Tango pad.
  4. I turned the bag over and did the same thing on the back side as well.  Once you wipe off the excess ink with the paper towel, the bag should be dry.

Once decorated, these little bags can hold a bag of mini Oreos and pretzels — or a whole bunch of Candy Corn!

If you would like to make some of these goodie bags for your Trick or Treaters, here are the Stampin’ Up! products that were used in the design of this 3-D project (simply click on any of the product pictures and you will be magically teleported to my demonstrator website where you can place your order — it’s easy peasy):

A Woodland Howl-o-ween Owl

Now I have to confess, I am not one of those people who goes hog wild and decorates their whole house for Halloween.  My husband may put out a few pumpkins that he carves with our grandson, but that’s about it.  I also do not make or send out cards for this occasion.

Today (Saturday) we had our quarterly demonstrators meeting at Amy Storrie’s home and she came up with some fabulous make & take projects for us which included a couple of Halloween themed projects that are just too darn cute not to share.  I will share with you today the card that we made.

It’s Time to (en)Joy Your Presents

I am sharing with you today two more cards that were “make & take” projects from Inspire.Create.Share. 2015.

Ok, by a virtual showing of hands, how many of you actually use the Stamp-a-ma-jig?  I own one; haven’t used it much – I actually dislike using it.  But it never fails that every year at Convention (I’ve been to the last six) at least one of the make & take projects requires we use that little bugger and I always try to wing it without it.  As always it ends up a big ol’ mess.

So, here is the first card (yes, this is the one that required the Stamp-a-ma-jig):

I am always nervous for some reason when stamping in front of my fellow demonstrators so it is not always my best work, so I wanted to try to recreate it here at home.  Well, I didn’t have the circle punch (shockingly) and I didn’t have the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (oh man, seriously) so I had to improvise a little bit.  Here is what I came up with:

DSC08152

During the same make & take session we had a card project that used the same stamp set (Your Presents) that is available in the Holiday catalog that was used to make the two cards above, but we changed up the colors, used a greeting from a different stamp set and this was the result:

DSC08142

The purpose of this experiment — to demonstrate how a stamp set from the Holiday catalog can be used throughout the year, not just during the holiday season.  Awesome sauce!

Well, since I have been having issues with the supply list builder and it is 1:30 AM as I write this post, I am going to skip that step this evening.  If you have any questions about any of the Stampin’ Up! products that were used in the design of these three cards, just ask me!

Thank you for stopping by my blog again today.  As always, I hope you leave here inspired to put stamps to ink to paper.

Until next time, stamp on my friends,

A Punched Bag of Joy for Your Presents

I am sharing another project with you that was partially started in July at Inspire.Create.Share. 2015.  In the Demonstrator Showcase we got to play with the Gift Bag Punch Board.  I scored and punched where appropriate but waited until today to actually assemble the box (it would have gotten smushed in my luggage and I just couldn’t have that).

I decided to finish it up with products from the 2015 Holiday Catalog (of course!) and this is what I came up with.

DSC08138

I think it needs something else to make it complete but this is all my tired brain could manage tonight.  But I did sneak a technique in there.  Can you spot it?

These little gift bags would make awesome gift packaging for those smaller holiday gifts such as neighbor or teachers gifts.

Here are the Stampin’ Up! products that were used in the design of this gift bag (my apologies, but the supply list builder is not working properly tonight so not all supplies are showing; contact me with any questions):

A Cozy Home for Christmas

Wow, I’m tired.  After not having worked a day job for nearly a month I was called in this morning for a temporary legal secretary assignment.  It was only a half-day today, and is expected to only be a two-week assignment, but I was up past 2:00 AM processing eBay transactions and have had only about five hours of sleep.

But even though I have to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow so I can catch two trains to be there at 8:15 AM, I wanted to share a Christmas card with you that was partially made in July while in Salt Lake City at Inspire.Create.Share. 2015 (what used to be known as Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Convention) in the Product Showcase for the Holiday Catalog.

DSC08136

We were able to play with some of the new products.  Can you spot them?  We cut out one of the Santa’s from the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper (I promise no Santa’s were harmed in the design of this card), stamped a verse from the Cozy Christmas stamp set and added some embellishments.  I added the Old Olive card stock mat and the Very Vanilla card stock base to finish out the card.

Below are all of the Stampin’ Up! products I used in the design of this card:

And don’t forget your envelope — it needs a little something to make it feel pretty too! (Just make sure you use the correct color to match your card case, unlike I did in this sample).

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.   I hope you leave here inspired to put stamps to ink to paper.

Until next time, stamp on my friends,

Cottage Greetings Card Kit

I took a short break from listing stuff on eBay and finally played with one of the new card kits from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.

Annual15_p094_a

The Cottage Greetings Card Kit has a coordinating stamp set, but I opted to not purchase the set and instead used some sets I had on hand, but I did stick to the instructions as far as the proposed design layouts go.
