Southern Serenade on Stained Glass

Finally!  My technical issues have been resolved.  I tell you, I am pretty computer savvy but these blog issues are shaving years off of my life.  The host’s server got hung up in a loop and was rejecting all attempts to access my website and after that was identified and corrected, one of the plug-ins that I use to power my website needed to be deactivated and then reactivated for it to behave properly.  I love technology and how far we have come during my lifetime, but at other times I curse its existence.

Now on to the project that I wanted to share with you all over two days ago that I shared with you briefly on my Facebook business page.  As I mentioned in that post, I used one of the new stamp sets from the Occasions Catalog – Southern Serenade.  This stamp set reminds me of all things vintage – the lace, flowers and even the font used on the greetings are pure perfection.  I have to admit however that I did not notice this stamp set the first dozen or so times I looked through the new catalog.  There are so many marvelous bundles and suites of products that draw your attention away from single, stand alone stamp sets.  Don’t let this one escape your attention.  And here is the card:

Here are the Stampin’ Up! products that were used in the design of this card which can be added to your shopping cart with a quick click on the thumbnails below:

Check out that ribbon.  I got it for FREE as part of Sale-A-Bration!  It is a Level 1 option (FREE with a  $50 purchase before tax and shipping) and includes three rolls of ribbon, one each in Calypso Coral (as shown in my project), Basic Gray and Bermuda Bay.

To create the lace background piece, I cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock to 4.00″ x 5.25″ and started in the top left corner and stamped the lace in Early Espresso ink.  I was lucky with my stamp placement going across and down as I reinked the stamp and repeated by 3 across and 3 down for a total of 9 stamps, the bottom 3 will be partial stamps since only about 2.00″ or so of area will remain.  (I tried using Crumb Cake ink but I did not get the lace detail that I did with the darker Early Expresso.)  I added a Whisper White mat that is 1/8 larger on all sides and attached to card base with dimensionals.

The flowers are stamped on a piece of vellum in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and covered with clear embossing powder, then heat set.  After the embossed area has cooled, I flipped over the stamped and embossed piece of vellum and colored the flowers with Stampin’ Blends.  I fussy cut the flowers out with my paper snips.

The doily is attached to the card front with dimensionals.  The die cut circle is attached to the doily with snail.  The vellum flower is attached with glue dots.

If you have any other questions regarding the design of this card do not hesitate to contact me.  I had a lot of fun making this card and am glad I finally am able to share it fully with you.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you leave here inspired to put stamps to ink to paper.  Until next time, stamp on my friends.

Linda
