A Storage Solution for My Stampin’ Blends

I love my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers by Stampin’ Up!  My dilemma is that they come individually wrapped in thin plastic envelopes and at present a case for storing your entire collection is not available.  Of course, I could have gone to a local arts & crafts store and purchased a really expensive marker storage system or just went ahead and used the one I had previously purchased from Stamp N Storage when I previously purchased the earlier Blendabilities but (1) I did not want to spend money at a craft store that I would rather spend on Stampin’ Up! products and (2) the marker unit I have is not conveniently located next to my work area and so they would not be “handy” when needed.

I saw a post from a fellow demonstrator who converted an empty Paper Pumpkin kit box into a storage box for her Blends and after a couple of attempts to reproduce one for myself I finally got the scoring correct for the insert to keep the markers neatly in place.  First I will show you photos of my storage box and then explain how you can reproduce one for yourself:

First, if you do not want the orange color to be on the outside of your box, unfold the box and fold it over inside out so that the orange is on the side of the box.

You will need 12 x 12 cardstock to create your box dividers.  You will need three (3) pieces cut to 12 x 6.

If you have a Simply Scored Scoring Tool, you will score each piece of 12 x 6 cardstock at 1.00″,  2.00″, 2.75″, 3.75″, 4.75″, 5.5o”, 6.50″, 7.50″, 8.25″, 9.25″, 10.25″ and 11.00″.  Your “hills” will be 1.00″ and your “valleys” will be .75″.  The 1.00″ sections will fold together and would be glued together to create your section divider.  See the below pictures for an example:

If you follow these scoring measurements and use the 12 x 6 cardstock, three (3) of these dividers joined together fit perfectly into the box.  To secure them into the box I put down three strips of Tear & Tape on the inside bottom and two strips on the first 1.00″ side of the divider to secure it to the side of the box.  I then carefully pressed the piece into the box making sure that the piece was flat with the side and bottom before pressing into the tape.  (You will notice that you have one incomplete 1.00″ tab at the end of each strip.  I recommend piecing onto that incomplete tab and use liquid glue to attach next section to the incomplete tab.)

I used some retired designer series paper to decorate my box and cut up one of my Blends brochures for the outside and the inside labeling.  Here are the other Stampin’ Up! products that I used that you can quickly add to your shopping cart if you want to make some organizers for yourself – just click on the thumbnails:

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you leave here inspired to create something to help organize your workspace.  Until next time, stamp on my friends.

Shoe stores will give you empty boxes.tell them you want small toddler sizes.they should fit in there.just a thought…

    • Thank you for the suggestion Susan. I like the Paper Pumpkin box because it is just deep enough that you can put both the light and the dark shades of each color in the same divider and therefore not have to “dig” around in the box to find the colors that you are needing.
