My first “Stamping Challenge”

I see “stamping challenges” everywhere these days and I have always wanted to participate.  When I stumbled across one that is organized by a few of my Stampin’ Up! friends, I couldn’t resist giving it a try.

Last week while I was browsing various blogs, I found “Stamping Challenges“.  The team members of this blog are:  Megan “Meg” Daves, Diana Raney, Kimberly “Kim” Williams, Celia Cawthon, Heather Parkhurst, Anabelle Fuentes, Cecile Nguyen and Sherry Bueche (what an amazing group of talented ladies)!

This is this week’s Stamping Challenge sketch (you can participate too — this challenge ends Wednesday, April 24):

Since this is the first challenge I have participated in, I’m a bit nervous.  But I had fun seeing what I could come up with (and it took me less than 2 hours!)!

Here are the supplies that I used to create my card (all items are available in the 2012-2013 Annual Catalog unless otherwise noted):

MDS Overview

I hope you’re not getting tired hearing about My Digital Studio!  I’ve been sick (again) and haven’t been putting my stamps and ink to paper (boohoo).

Stampin’ Up!’s digital designing website, MyDigitalStudio.net, recently got a makeover.  If you haven’t checked it out yet, here are a few places to get started.

  • Get helpful training in the Learning section.  You’ll find everything from beginner to advanced techniques and awesome videos uploaded by MDS users.
  • Follow the blog.
    • On Tuesdays, we highlight the new downloads.
    • On Thursdays, one of our regular bloggers shares ideas on the Download Dish.
    • On Saturdays, look for a new challenge (lasting for two weeks). Upload and tag your samples for a chance to win a free download!
    • Watch the blog for surprise blog posts on other days.
  • Check out samples from other users for project inspiration.  Add your samples and like or comment on fellow designers’ projects.

Introducing the “Dolled-Up Birthday Kit”

To assemble one card, follow the instructions below:

  1. Place the stamp on clear-mount block D or H rubber side up and ink with the Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Spot.
  2. Stamp “Happy Birthday” at the bottom of the card front.
  3. Ink the Sponge Dauber with Soft Suede ink and gently antique the doily and the edges of the dress form.
  4. Adhere the pieces to the card front in this order:
    • Doily
    • Very Vanilla Cardstock
    • Dress form
    • Flower

Submit a Project

Stampin’ Up! wants your kit ideas for upcoming kits.  No, this is not a typo.  In October, 2012 Stampin’ Up! started up a new kit program especially for you.  YOU will be the inspiration for the kits and YOU will vote to decide which project will be sold.

Submit a Project is not limited to demonstrators, so spread the word to your friends and neighbors  to submit and vote on upcoming kits.  This is a great way to get the entire stamping community together.  Start creating! Send us your kit ideas and get ready to vote for your favorites.

The Not-So-Fine Print

  • This program is available to both customers and demonstrators.
  • While your projects should not include retired products, they may include products not created by Stampin’ Up!, (such as jars or frames).
  • Projects must fit into the specified category:  Birthday.
  • Projects can be cards, scrapbook pages, home décor, holiday décor, birthday decorations, etc.  If you can make it with Stampin’ Up! product, you can submit it!
  • Submit your projects by e-mail.  Send an image (less than 2 MB), supply list, and instructions for creating the project to: kitideas@stampinup.com.  In the subject line, include the name of your project.
  • Please keep in mind that all submissions become the property of Stampin’ Up! once received.  Stampin’ Up! reserves the right to change project elements, the name, or any feature to make the kit easy to reproduce.
  • What’s in it for you?  Glad you asked!  Those who submit the winning kit will:
    • See it – your photo, name and project will be posted online.
    • Flaunt it – you’ll receive “blog badge” for your personal blog or website.
    • Spend it – you wouldn’t be a winner without a $100 Stampin’ Up! shopping spree. (SWEET!)

The second big announcement today:

Introducing our new wood-mount stamp set packaging! These new cases are similar to our clear-mount boxes and fit perfectly on the shelf right next to them. They also have the images and stamp set name on the spine to make your search for the right set even easier.

Starting May 31 all wood-mount sets will come in this new packaging.  And empty cases will be available with the launch of the new catalog.  That means you can transfer all your old sets to these new boxes!  There will even be a template for you to create your own label for your old stamp sets (available May 31).  A pack of four half-size cases (3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″) will sell for $4.95 and a pack of four full-size cases (7-1/2″ x 5-1/2″) will be $6.95.
