A Beautiful Peacock for Sale-A-Bration

I think Stampin’ Up! hit it out of the park with this year’s selection of products for Sale-A-Bration.  I have placed my fair share of orders since December and I have yet to exhaust my selection of products.

I chose one of the stamp sets from Sale-A-Bration for today’s project – Beautiful Peacock.  There are so many different ways you could create your peacock’s tail feathers.  For my card, I chose to heat emboss in silver and gold.  Here is today’s card:

It took me two attempts to get the look I was happy with – I originally tried to also include copper embossing but it was a bit too much.

Here are the Stampin’ Up! products that were used in the design of this project which can be added to your shopping cart with a quick click on the thumbnails below:

When I started building my peacock, I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 4.00″ x 5.25″ which was rubbed with my embossing buddy.  I first stamped the scalloped fan tail feathers in VersaMark and added the gold embossing powder and heat set.

After allowing the gold embossing to cool I rubbed my card again with the embossing buddy and stamped the peacock’s body inside the fan tail feathers with VersaMark (being as careful as possible to align the stamp to the open space) and added the silver embossing powder and heat set.

After allowing the silver peacock’s body to cool down I rubbed my card again with the embossing buddy and stamped the swirly vine tail feathers in VersaMark and added the silver embossing powder and heat set (I stamped and added embossing powder to each as I stamped but heat set all three at the same time).

After allowing the silver vine tail feathers to cool down I rubbed my card again with the embossing buddy and stamped the curved leave stems tail feathers in VersaMark and added the gold embossing powder and heat set (following the same process as above).

I ended up fussy cutting out my peacock because I did not like all of the empty white space but found that it lost its “wow” factor if the entire background was DSP.  So I attached to the card front with dimensionals with a piece of DSP cut to 2.50″ x 4.00″.

If you have any other questions regarding the design elements of this card, do not hesitate to ask.
